This is my first experience with Ironton, but quite aware that good things are happening with Colorado whiskey. I entered this tasting with no preconceived notions and no rumors regarding quality of Ironton… other than age.
I find this malt whiskey to be quite enjoyable… definitely far more than I anticipated for 2+ years. Ignoring the “good for 2+ year” angle… I simply enjoy it for any age. Scotland has conditioned us to think single malt only starts being good at around 12 years. Personally, some of my preferred single malts have been much younger.
Ironton is a newer player in the game… and I like this whiskey. The fruity nose & palate definitely works for me.
